- I'm not ready to uninstall version 7.0 but I want to see what's in the newest version. Can I run version 8.0 in tandem with earlier versions?
Yes - each application installs to its own folder and has its own set of registry entries and support files. - I have several workbooks created in earlier versions of SLIM-Suite. Can I use them with version 8.0?
Workbooks created in earlier versions of SLIM-Suite must be upgraded before they can be viewed or edited in version 8.0. Upgraded workbooks will no longer be compatible with earlier versions of SLIM-Suite, however. Workbooks are forward, but not backward compatible. - What are the System Requirements for SLIM Suite?
The SLIM-Suite Installation Manual lists the System Requirements (along with lots of other useful information about installing the suite). - What new features will I see in 8.0?

List of features and fixes 8.0a-g. We have SLIM-Suite installed on a network. Will my users have to upgrade too?
No. Once you have upgraded the server copy of SLIM-Suite, all users will be automatically upgraded. No action is needed on your part.- The dreaded Checksum error: Help! Setup won't accept my license information!
A checksum error occurs when the values you entered for company name and location don't match the values expected by the setup program. Check to make sure your entries match the information provided in your license email. For example, if your license email has "Dave's Software Emporium" and you type in "Daves Software Emporium", setup will detect the mismatch (no apostrophe in "Daves")and return a checksum error. If you pasted license information from your license email, check to make sure you didn't inadvertently capture/paste any leading or trailing spaces. You can find the username and password in the following places:
* Your upgrade notice
* the original shipping email you received at the beginning of your license period
* If you are upgrading from a prior version of SLIM Suite 8.0, there should be a readme.txt file in your Tools80 directory. The default path for this directory is c:/Program Files/QSM/Tools80, but you can also find it by right clicking any SLIM 80 application shortcut and looking at the shortcut properties.
If you cannot locate any of these documents, please contact your software administrator or email QSM support. - Where can I find my activation code?
You can find your activation code in either of the following places:
* If you are upgrading from a prior version of SLIM Suite 8.0, there should be a readme.txt file in your Tools80 directory. The default path for this directory is c:/Program Files/QSM/Tools80, but you can also find it by right clicking any SLIM 80 application shortcut and looking at the shortcut properties.
* Your activation code is also in the original shipping email you received at the beginning of your license period

11. Where can I find the 8.0 User Manuals?
Inside your Tools80 application directory are a series of sub-folders containing sample files, templates and product documentation. If you accepted the default installation location during setup, you'll find pdf copies of the User Manuals in C:\Program Files\QSM\Tools80\Doc.
12. I installed/upgraded SLIM-Suite and now, when I try to open certain files, I'm getting a "file stamp" error. How can I fix this?

That message appears when you use an earlier version of SLIM-suite to open a workbook created with a later version. For example, you are using SLIM-Suite 7.0 or 8.0a to open a workbook created in version 8.0g.
SLIM-Suite workbooks are forward (but not backward) compatible. If you use the latest version to open a workbook created in a previous version, you will be prompted to upgrade the workbook to the current database format. But if you use an older version of SLIM-Suite to open a workbook created in a more recent version, SLIM-Suite cannot "revert back" to an older file format.
To open the workbook, you must upgrade to the latest version of SLIM-Suite. If you have already upgraded to the latest version, check to make sure you don't have multiple versions of the applications on your machine (ex: version 7.0 and version 8.0). From the Windows Start menu, select Start | All Programs to see the programs list. Uninstall any earlier versions using the Windows Control Panel | Programs and Features.

If you have not yet upgraded to the latest release, vist up upgrades page and download the upgrade files. You'll need your license email or the readme.txt file from your Tools80 directory to access your license registration and activation codes. You can check for updates right from the Help menu in the tools. If you have questions or need help, just contact QSM support for assistance!
