Exchanging SLIM-Suite Data With Other Applications

SLIM-Suite applications provide comprehensive and detailed software project intelligence from inception to completion.  Each application contains data for multiple metrics about software project estimates, plans, development methods and technologies, actual performance, and more.

In today’s world, software project metrics and related information are stored and managed using a variety of enterprise management systems. The ability to exchange data among systems is critical.

The following lists ways you can take advantage of SLIM’s import and export features to better software project management:

APPLICATION

KEY METRICS

IMPORT/EXPORT CAPABILIITIES

All Export views to PowerPoint (single, multiple, all)
Export reports to Excel, HTML (single, multiple)
SLIM-Estimate

Estimates of software size, effort, average staff, peak staff, labor cost, productivity, software quality, resource demand plan, WBS schedule, and probability ranges for core metrics.

Import / Export to Microsoft Project (WBS schedule)

SLIM-Control

Plan, actual, and forecast values over time (weekly, monthly) for software size (product construction), staff, effort, defects, plus an unlimited number of custom metrics.

SLIM-DataManager

Over 300 predefined software project metrics, demographics data, plus an unlimited number of custom metrics for completed projects.

Export Project Detail Report (all data for a single project) to Excel, HTML
Export multiple custom views with up to 15 metrics to Excel or HTML
SLIM-MasterPlan

Program and portfolio level aggregated estimates of software size, effort, average staff, peak staff, labor cost, productivity, software quality, resource demand plan, WBS schedule, and probability ranges for core metrics. Non-software task effort, cost, staffing, and duration, task dependencies.

SLIM-Metrics

SLIM Application Programming Interface (API)

QSM provides APIs for three SLIM-Suite applications:

  • SLIM-Estimate
  • SLIM-DataManager
  • SLIM-Control

SLIM-Suite version-specific API Packages contain documentation, API demo spreadsheets with sample code, and supporting workbooks for all three SLIM-Suite API demos.  See SLIM-Suite API Demo Packages to download API packages.
