Screen 4: Accounting
The accounting options allow you to customize cost and effort data
to your environment.
More:
Effort Unit: The effort units field allows you to enter total effort
in years (YR), months (M), days (DAY), or hours (HR) etc. This selection
should be made before you begin entering actual data. However, you
can change from one unit to the other for projects that are already
underway and you will be given the option of having your data automatically
converted according to the values specified on this screen. Each effort
unit can be preceded by a variety of prefixes:
PREFIX EFFORT UNIT
M = Man MM for ManMonths
P = Person PDAY for PersonDays
S = Staff SHR for StaffHours
There is no difference between a man year, person year, or staff year;
the prefixes are provided to allow you to match the terms in use by
your organization.
Person Hours per Person Month: The average number of hours a typical
Full Time Equivalent (FTE) employee works in an average month. The
value should range between 80 and 744. The QSM default value of 173
is based on a 40-hour workweek and 52 weeks a year (52 weeks / 12
months * 40 hours = 173.33 person hours per month).
Labor Rate: The average wage and salary rate of the people directly
involved in a software development, including detailed design, coding,
testing, validation, documentation, supervision, and management, plus
a percentage of the direct average to account for overhead.

Labor Rate; choose one of the following:
MYR, MM, MW, MD, MHR, PYR, PM, PW, PD, PHR, SYR, SM, SW, SD, SHR.
