QSM Announces the Commercial Availability of SLIM-Metrics®

Quantitative Software Management, Inc., a leading supplier of software measurement tools, announces the commercial availability of SLIM-Metrics, its software measurement repository and benchmarking analysis tool.

Many organizations are just getting software measurement programs started. SLIM-Metrics supports these efforts with a predefined basic set of measures considered essential for every organization. The basic set is supplemented with a larger set of predefined and unlimited user defined measures that support organizations as they become more mature. The database is open (ODBC compliant) making it easy to create seamless interfaces to any other tool that is ODBC compliant.

The analysis portion of the tool contains query, statistical, graphing and reporting capabilities for users to compare and assess their projects. The product ships with numerous pre-built graphical analysis views. Each view contains multiple screens where each screen can contain up to 16 metric graphs. Users can modify or add to any of the views or create new ones. Users can display up to five sets of data on each graph allowing them to visually compare performance. Projects are easily identified on the graphs using the point and click project identification feature.

SLIM-Metrics is targeted for use by software process improvement groups, project offices, metrics groups, benchmarking consultants, and quality management organizations.

SLIM Metrics runs in a Windows 95 or NT environment. It requires a Pentium processor and 30 megabytes of hard disc storage for optimal performance.

SLIM-Metrics is commercially available. The license options range from $4,995 to $35,000 depending on the hardware configuration and number of users. Training and support are included in the license. Regular training classes are held in McLean VA.
