Our Approach

Our process is straight forward and designed to have minimal impact on the organization and individual project. A typical engagement takes 2-6 weeks to complete.

1. Good start kickoff meeting (identify the individuals who will coordinate the estimate and participate, determine any unique assessment requirements of the client, identify data sources, establish a time schedule and deliverables, brief out the process and the schedule to the participants)
2. Data collection and estimation assumptions (Webex or on-site interviews use or develop sizing methods based on engineering requirements and design artifacts, collect historical data on completed projects, define constraints for staffing, budget, cash flow, schedule and reliability)
3. Identify comparable historical data set from the QSM database (QSM prepares custom data sample based on application domain, time frame of development, size of projects, development languages, development methods, development type as a validation check)
4. Initial estimation scenarios presented to the client (initial opportunity to assess reasonableness and shape alternative scenarios if required)
5. Refined Estimation Scenarios and Risk Assessment (analysis of all practical alternatives and QSM recommended solution)
6. Brief out final results (PowerPoint briefing and/or report)
7. Optional follow-on engagement to track actual data and provide a forecast to complete
