High Performance Benchmark Consortium

Why become a Consortium member?

The High Performance Benchmarking Consortium is a program specifically designed to help software development or acquisition organizations to quantify and demonstrate performance improvement over time. The program is designed for clients that want to be best in class software producers and are willing to be active participants in the program. In today’s economic environment it is more important than ever for developers to compete more effectively and provide value to their customers. These are the typical reasons companies choose to participate:

  • To find out how their organization compares with industry peers
  • To satisfy a corporate governance requirement
  • To demonstrate superior software development performance to existing and new clients
  • To diagnose and improve schedule, quality, resource utilization and productivity performance
  • To increase predictability of software development and package implementation projects
  • To network with industry experts

What Is the High Performance Benchmark Consortium Program?

Members gain access to proprietary research that leverages our QSM historical benchmark database of over 8,000 validated software projects. There are five main components of the program:

  1. Annual Development Baseline Performance Assessment
  2. Annual Benchmark Comparison to Industry Peer Groups with Five Star Report
  3. Semi-Annual Consortium Member Forums
  4. Client Directed Research (2 - 4 research topics)
  5. Annual Consortium Almanac Report

Levels of Participation

There are four levels of partcipation in the High Performance Benchmark Consortium:

Bronze Membership: Bronze members enjoy the standard baseline assessment and are benchmarked against a standard set of QSM application trend lines. Bronze level members also receive a copy of the Almanac and enjoy participation in semi-annual Consortium Member Forum meetings held at premium venues with industry leading guest speakers. Bronze level members can choose to be involved in client-directed research in lieu of the standard baseline assessement, as well.

Silver Membership: Silver level members enjoy all of the benefits of Bronze membership plus a custom benchmark comparison assessment, involvement in client-directed research, additional attendees at Forum meetings and multiple copies of the Almanac.

Gold and Platinum Memberships: Gold and Platinum level members enjoy all the benefits of Silver membership plus additional projects assessed, more involvement in client-directed research, additional attendees at Forum meetings, and additional copies of the Almanac. This membership is typically geared toward large corporations that have multiple sites and/or divisions.
