Please welcome Carol Dekkers who joins QSM as a part-time Consultant and Trainer. Carol will be a member of our consulting team and also assisting as needed with our research and training needs. Carol has been a longtime teaming partner of QSM and those of us who have worked with her know that she is an excellent speaker, writer, trainer and consultant.
Carol is a recognized international expert in the software metrics and IT Project Management industries. A former President of the International Function Point Users Group (IFPUG), Carol has been project editor of the U.S. delegation to ISO software and systems engineering standards in function points and benchmarking (ISO/IEC JTC1 SC7) since 1994.
She is the author of Function Points – tools for project management metrics (Cutter, 2001), and the co-author of at an additional six ICT industry books including The IT Measurement Compendium – Estimating and benchmarking success with functional size measurement (Springer, 2008); The Program Management Toolkit for software and systems development (Talentum, 2008), Practical Software Project Estimation, 2nd and 3rd editions (ISBSG, 2008, 2010), and several others including the previous IFPUG textbook and The Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) Handbook. Carol is widely known for her leadership abilities and her indepth knowledge of software estimation and Function Point Analysis. She has taught workshops and delivered keynote presentations to professional audiences in over 27 countries.
Carol is a Certified Function Point Specialist (CFPS), a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Professional Engineer (P.Eng. Canada). In addition to teaching PMP preparation and leadership courses on behalf of Registered Education Providers (REPs) for the Project Management Institute, she has established sustainable software measurement programs and supporting processes based on Function Point Analysis, and as the president of Quality Plus Technologies, she has mentored and trained technical professionals across a wide range of industries (including banking, healthcare, insurance, engineering and government) to design and implement realistic frameworks for software measurement in conjunction with SDLC based function point counting. She consistently receives high marks for both her instructional skills and consulting and facilitation leadership.
Carol was also featured as one of the 21 new Voices of Quality for the 21st Century by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Quality Progress and holds the honor of being the webinar host with the highest consistent attendance for the IT Metrics and Productivity Institute’s (ITMPI) entire 500+ webinar series (2006-2011).
